Advantages of Paytm POS Machine

  • Seamless User Experience: Seamless experience for the merchants to track the transactions done. There is a faster transaction processing time as merchants enter the order details in their billing system and the same is reflected in the Paytm POS machine.

  • End-to-end tracking: Helps the merchants to achieve end-to-end tracking of the transaction lifecycle. Identification of the delayed payments within minutes, leading to efficiency in data collection and analysis.

  • Automated Flow - There is no manual intervention as the flow is automated. This leads to lesser or no human errors in the process and saves time in the process.

  • Reconciliation with Merchant Billing - Easy reconciliation process with the Merchant Billing POS system. Merchants can easily check the payment modes from which the transactions have happened.

Merchant Billing - Paytm POS Connection

In addition to standalone payment terminals, Paytm offers seamless integrated solutions for electronic cash registers (ECRs) i.e. cashier/attendant uses the ECR system that passes the amount and refers payment terminal, and prints out receipts. Through this solution, merchants can send payment requests to the Paytm POS machine and also close the transaction once the response from the Paytm POS machine is received.

Transaction Flow

  1. Payment is initiated on the Merchant Billing System / ECR terminal. This terminal would be connected with wire or wirelessly with the Paytm POS machine. All data required for initiating payment including transaction amount, currency, and unique reference number for the merchant billing system would be sent to the Paytm POS machine.
  2. As soon as the payment request is received by the device it would show the insert card/tap icon on the screen. Customers can choose all available payment modes on the device.
  3. Customers would enter the PIN on the device and would press the submit / green / enter button.
  4. Payment requests would be sent to the middleware. Middleware would process the transaction and the response would be sent back to the Paytm POS machine.
  5. Both success / failed responses received from the middleware would be shown on the Paytm POS machine. Customer / Merchant may opt to print payment receipts on the Paytm POS machine.
  6. The same response with the other required parameters would be sent back to the Merchant Billing System.

Types of Paytm POS Connection

The connection between the Paytm POS machine and the Merchant Billing system can be made via four modes:-

  1. Wireless Connection through the Internet - With wireless ECR integration, merchants can use their billing system to generate bills and send payment requests to the Paytm POS machine over the air. The Paytm POS machine and merchant billing system will be connected via cloud-based services.

Use Case -  Merchants who are looking for a seamless transaction process, by entering the details in their billing system and getting the final amount populated in the Paytm POS machine. View the full transaction details like payment mode, payment amount, etc., and also see the details of the order in their Billing system, and the final amount is sent to the Paytm POS machine. Example - Enterprise, Retail Merchants

  2. Bluetooth Connection - Merchant devices need not be connected to the internet, Bluetooth connection is enabled to send the response to the Paytm POS machine for completing the transaction.

Use Case - Merchants who use their devices to connect to the POS machines can use Bluetooth Integration Flow. Merchants can send payment requests, transaction status requests, and transaction cancellation requests from their billing pos application to Paytm EDC over Bluetooth. Example - Small-scale business

  3. Wired Connection through USB, Serial Ports - With wired ECR integration, merchants can use their billing system to generate bills and send payment requests to the Paytm POS machine through a USB wire.

Use Case - The integration provides a seamless integration to merchants who have no access to a wireless internet connection. For merchants in places with low Wi-Fi connection, they can use wired integration by connecting their billing system to the Paytm POS machine through a USB cable to avail the services. View the full transaction details like payment mode, payment amount, etc., and also see the details of the order in their Billing system, and the final amount is sent to the Paytm POS machine. Example - Enterprise, Retail merchants

  4. Connection via App Invoke- A seamless way to integrate the merchant application with the Paytm POS machine.

Use Case - Merchants who are in commute can have their app invoked in the Paytm POS machine, where they can use their app to generate the details and make payment from the Paytm Payments App in the machine. Example - Bus Transportation, Parking facilities, etc.

  5. Connection via Payment Request- Paytm POS machines have an Efficient Payment Request Queue Management system. It allows merchants to post payment collection requests from multiple Billing POS to a centralized server. It then retrieves and displays these requests, enabling deferred processing for increased operational flexibility.

Use Case - In a busy retail environment, such as a supermarket or a fast-food chain, merchants receive a high volume of payment requests. Now, instead of processing payments in real time, you can queue these requests on Paytm POS machines concurrently. Later, you can collect the payments at your convenience and provide faster service to customers.
